Yeah I think that's where we're at.

If your desired outcome is nobody is inducted, send the blank, because that is expressive of your wishes that nobody be inducted.
December 11, 2025 at 1:35 AM
This is the other thing. In this voter's case, all his yeses got in. This blank did not come from changing his mind on a single person. You're asking him to support at least one candidate he doesn't actually believe in. That harms the process too.
December 11, 2025 at 1:30 AM
I mean... yes, it does hurt them. Any time you do *anything* short of filling out all 10 names you're 'hurting' candidates. This isn't supposed to be easy. In fact these small ballots are the ones you MUST win if you want to get inducted. They're the ones that make up the nos that keep people out.
December 11, 2025 at 1:18 AM
Yeah. It does. And that's the point of a blank. To raise the standards and not make it easier for people you believe undeserving to get in and permanently lower them. An abstention helps candidates by removing a no from them and if you don't think they deserve to get in, that goes against your aims.

Sorry if any of that is me

That doesn't even say there's an actual bowl game, just that LA is going to be bucked up.

Oh, the 65% who voted for him is looking at none of this, will hardly think of any of these people ever again in their life, and will do it again voting for next year's comp beast du jour.
December 10, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Funny thing. They BOTH volunteered for it, one of them merely didn't have to actually do it. I think it's largely... Will, Ashley and Kelley? Who were the ones not to raise their hand?
December 10, 2025 at 7:26 PM
It's a weak field this year and all of his previous guys got off the ballot via getting inducted. He's not gonna force himself to choke down a yes on someone if he doesn't believe a yes exists out there.
December 10, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Abstensions aren't. Blanks are. This is the same as going through each and every name and marking no, none of these people deserve to get in.

Oh even if it's a New York thing, I saw a guest list for the Amazing Race finale, it's in New York, her bestie Lauren is going but she's not.

If Ava shows up to any alumni function anywhere it is going to be the rare chase drop.
December 8, 2025 at 10:51 PM
Oh God no she looks perfectly happy to just, leave these weirdos and their cockamamie lifestyle behind her aside from the ones she struck up friendships with during the game itself.
December 8, 2025 at 10:43 PM
I'm convinced this is a fairly significant reason why Ava didn't fly out with the others. Not even going to take the risk of someone wanting to pay for a photo of her next to, say, Mickey. Nope. Not for sale. I'll just stay back in New York thank you.
December 8, 2025 at 10:30 PM
The guy who paid for the photo almost certainly

Here's the thing about people calling it a sham.

If they really thought it was that much of a sham they'd walk away once it became clear the two weren't gonna make it. Instead the same folks are back every single year to call it a sham again.

Sham or get off the pot.

The reason isn't as important as the peer reaction. That's what most any Hall of Fame is first and foremost about: having the respect of distinguished peers. And it's clear that Bonds and Clemens do not garner the respect of their distinguished peers.

Two days of tourism, big whoop. This is kinda the Alan Eagleson thing but for baseball, the existing HOFers going either they're out or ALL of us are.
December 8, 2025 at 3:33 AM
If it's going to go that far down the list that's really the only face-saving answer, call in Deeper Than Hate.
December 8, 2025 at 2:37 AM
I think that's the goal: the Hall can plainly see that IF they ever get in it won't be for at least another generation and will likely be posthumous, and wants to force people to move the hell on already and talk about candidates with an actual chance.
