One can draw a logical conclusion that depression, a condition of which people cannot take care of even the most basic needs let alone possible health issues, would be indirectly associated with heart disease.

There’s room for all options. It shouldn’t be only this or only that, and it definitely should be that some are options are lauded as being better than others. Psychiatric drugs work and are safe. Exercise and diet work and are safe as well. Treatment should be tailored to the person.
