I also forgot, as August was something of a blur, to share Season 2: Volume 2 on Bluesky last month. Very sorry about that!

Please find that issue here, too - mugwortmag.wordpress.com

Have a little bit of time travelling back to the summer on me.

Season 2: Volume 3 of Mugwort is here. As we move more fully into autumn, our last issue of 2025 covers much: from summer's end to frosty hints of winter, small joys & fears, natural & supernatural, tricks & treats.

We create from the edges, and it is beautiful here. 🖤🍂🍁

Season 2: Volume 1 is out now!

You’ll find plants, birds, the sea, holidays... & of course, the edges: the shifting borders between the human & non-human, the urban & the wild, this world & others.

We hope you have a beautiful journey through each one. 🌿

I'm really pleased that my poem "What you should do is this" has found a home in Mugwort Magazine, along with an enticing host of other poems by other poets. Do have a look!

Hello writers! I originally hoped to respond to all subs by 1/7, but that's tomorrow & I'm still reading submissions.

We've received more for Season 2 than for Season 1 - a beautiful problem to have, but it means I underestimated how long it would take to respond.

I'll reply by this weekend! 💚

I'd especially love to see some images of wild flora & fauna for possible cover art. (NO AI please!)

Ha! But yes, it is. And the English bluebells are the sweetly scented ones, too - I took this photo yesterday and really just wanted to sit in the sun smelling bluebells all afternoon. Alas, my regular Wednesday life had other plans. 😄

This fantastic poem, 'Endurance in the Time of Covid' by Michael Durack, looks at isolation and survival at two rather different historical points: the coronavirus lockdowns of five years ago, and the Antarctic expedition of the ship Endurance and her crew in the 1910s.

Three weeks of social-distancing, self-isolationand talking up our spirit of endurance;Shackleton’s Endurance sailed for forty-five daysbefore coming a cropper in Antarctic ice.
