Here is the second sculpture I created during my « Kent Melton Scholarship Award» by CTN Foundation.
Based on #Ekko from #Arcane
Presented in LA last week.

It wasn’t easy to catch his personality in clay, but I think I got it right.
What do you think ?

Gotta admit. While doing research and you have little moments of an epiphany, it’s quite fun. Narrowing down timelines and specific dates. Yesterday had one while just talking casually about the research in Discord. I think I narrowed down a date I'd missed before.

Didn't realize I hadn't showcased any of my translations here yet. Probably the most fun ones for me have been the Mother novels by Saori Kumi. You can find them here! 🌏

Can't believe it's been a year since I gave my Importance of Game Merchandise Preservation talk at The Strong National Museum of Play. Was an honor and I still hope more collectors can come together to help take this seriously.

Enjoy a poorly recorded version below.

Man, reading through old posts, here but also Twitter, and realize some stuff I set out to find but haven’t. But then realize it’s all down to someone being lucky enough to have said item stored on a hard drive somewhere. Pretty sure the Yoshi’s Story Yoshi game is going to be difficult.

Good gravy. Is my math right? Happy, what would have been, 30th Camp Hyrule. 👀

It’s interesting to do Google searches from time to time. “Nintendo NSider” and “Camp Hyrule” are my go-to search terms. Interesting to see how many remember CH and want to talk Zelda more recently. I try to leave my marks where I can. This year a little more quiet though. Time marches on...

About 5 years ago I started scanning Play Meter and have finished all of what I currently have on hand. 392 issues are now preserved on the Internet Archive and the magazines themselves have been sent to @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social for their library. archive.org/search?query...

To celebrate the Switch 2 release, we made a video showcasing all the flash games from Nintendo's virtual summer camp: Camp Hyrule!

Big thanks to @mukusix.bsky.social and the rest of the NSiders community for their archival of Camp Hyrule!

Hopefully even more assets for CH are uncovered one day!
The Nintendo Switch 2 is finally here!

To celebrate, chronicle the 13 year history of Nintendo's virtual summer camp by going through each year, showcasing it's map, and of course playing every flash game!

We play through Camp Hyrule on the newest edition of Flashback.

Looking at my two other DCR CH games after yesterday, and I don’t believe they are up. donkey.dcr and kremling.dcr so I’m assuming it is Donkey Konk and Kremling Krunch but can’t be sure. Tried Flashpoint on my new Mac and .. it has given me nothing but issues. But they also don’t say my current OS…

Bluesky tidbit: I uploaded Fish Tails games to archive.org. Even as DCR folks can get it and put it in a flash player to play at least. And gives us another place it is archived. But not only that, enjoyed!

Thanks goes to @bbladem83.bsky.social for the thought today to still upload it.

It’s been a while. Maybe it’s worth asking again. Anyone have any Camp Hyrule games or files we don’t have up on archive.org? Still looking to preserve as much of that as we can. It’s amazing to see how many have connected with that and enjoyed.

I just did a Pikachu gasp when I logged into GOG to download my games to new computer. I only remember buying Torchlight, Descent 1 and 2, and Sim City 2k. Where did the rest of these games come from? 👀

Gotta prep myself to jump back into this project. My medicine is, amazingly even at start, slowly making me feel better. Which means I can work on other things again. Perhaps that means I can work on the outline and all again before jumping into any major writing!

It’s amazing to think about things we think we should archive and catalog. But often times, it’s too late, or much, much harder to do by time we think about it. I’m glad to see all the archiving projects on Bluesky. But also makes me realize how mine is but a spec of dust about to be blown away.

Now that I've finished digitizing and uploading all 230+ of the Dave Lowe disks, I'm pleased to share that I've sent the physical disks to The Strong Museum of Play, who have graciously included them in their extensive archives.

Thank you, @borman.bsky.social and @museumofplay.bsky.social!!
I obtained hundreds of disks from veteran game musician & programmer Dave Lowe, who worked on games through the 80s & 90s; from original music for Beneath a Steel Sky & Starglider (progenitor to @dylancuthbert.bsky.social and Giles Goddard's Star Fox), to port-jobs of titles like Street Fighter II.

I know there is always a chance, very slim as it may be, to find stuff. But when you know so much is lost to the sands of time, it's really hard. I honestly wish I had gotten more into this earlier. But alas. Feel like at this point a lot of it has to come from interviews. Info vs things we see. :(

This is a big deal! I had a long fireside chat with Gail Tilden about her marketing career at Nintendo, where among many other things she:

- Launched the NES
- Was the editor-in-chief of Nintendo Power
- Launched the Pokémon brand in the West

She brought some stories she'd never told before!
In the latest Video Game History Hour podcast, Gail Tilden, Nintendo of America’s marketing mastermind, talks to Frank Cifaldi in a Long Island Retro Gaming Expo panel, reminiscing about everything from the early days of NES branding to the explosive rise of Pokémon: gamehistory.org/episode-126-...

Looking at my local archive of old community things and would like to make it bigger! Working on a large project on this. Have any old community images, chat logs, or anything? LMK! Would love to see. (Even old Flash games!)

Not going to lie. I love seeing all the archiving work and everything folks are into. So much of the older stuff getting love to archive and save. Or see in HQ. I am kind of obsessed with it now. I guess it helps being in the archiving train. You definitely appreciate it.

Finding those random posts with someone thinking it won’t mean a thing. It does! Usually at least one person out there. Fun finds.

If you have anything from Nintendo online communities and you’d like yo share let me know! JusDBerube and I are working on a project for that.
