UK Yacht broker. Mother. Homeless from April 23 to October 24 - an experience which blew my mind. Survivor ✨
Well, in the UK we are chucking billionaires out at a rate of knots.
Luckily in my business, not their yachts too 🤣
But you guys have such a complex economy - these tariffs are scary for all of us.

Do you think? In the UK we would be dwelling on that sort of speech in our parliament for months if not years 🤣
April 2, 2025 at 1:41 AM
Do you think that maybe the US is so disparate that it’s almost impossible to govern for everyone? American economy is so huge, I don’t think we can even conceive of having one rule for so many ppl over here in Europe.

Thank you for your patience though.
April 2, 2025 at 1:37 AM
It’s a process, right? And if you ever fancy an exchange of knowledge I’m happy to facilitate in a non-judgemental fashion. Although now Boris is out, I guess the UK is not as confusing as your political landscape is right now 🤯🤣

Up until recently the UK was so obsessed with Brexit we barely noticed anyone else.
That’s now healing like an oozing wound, but we are gradually looking around and realising we haven’t got a scooby doo what else is going on.
I appreciate conversations like this.
April 2, 2025 at 1:25 AM
In the UK, where I am, we have been kind of ignoring the global real politic for some time.
We need to get back to understanding and collaborating with our neighbours again.
Soz.

What I’m getting here - with a whole load of credit to some patient ppl - is that both Republicans and Democrats are deeply cheesed off.

Democracy only works if both sides are held to account - and it doesn’t seem like that’s happening much at all…
April 2, 2025 at 1:21 AM
So from your perspective it’s performative politics?

Gotcha.

That is one of my absolute pet hates too.
April 2, 2025 at 1:17 AM
Thank you for your replies.

I understand the frustration a little more now.
April 2, 2025 at 1:15 AM
lol yep!

International yacht broker.

Sell quite a lot of boats to US based clients.

NEVER get into politics.

Seems like that’s wise 🤣
April 2, 2025 at 1:13 AM
Ahhh ok.

And that happened immediately after that Booker guy stepped away from the floor.

Got it.

Sorry, I’m really not being stupid, I just like to understand.
April 2, 2025 at 1:12 AM
Ok - that’s interesting if from your perspective it meant nothing.

I guarantee in the morning all the politics will pick it up here. Podcasts will chat about it.

Trump is terrifying Europe, the UK feels slightly better off but not much.

Just wondered why it isn’t landing with you guys
April 2, 2025 at 1:11 AM
I wish 🤯
April 2, 2025 at 1:09 AM
🤣🤣

Ok - my understanding of your politics is fragile at best - but at the moment all we hear about in the UK is what’s going on with you guys.

Happy to admit I’ve been insular - but fuck me, we’ve had Brexit which was the biggest shit show ever
April 2, 2025 at 1:08 AM
Ok - so you’re upset about the consent given after his 25 hour speech?
April 2, 2025 at 1:06 AM
Explain point 3?
April 2, 2025 at 1:05 AM
I really can’t, and I’m not being obtuse. From the outside it seems like the US is starting to eat itself…are you guys happy with the tariffs and the authoritarianism that’s being reported?
April 2, 2025 at 1:04 AM
Thanks, but I like learning…what the current US administration does will significantly impact my business as much as yours, I would imagine.
April 2, 2025 at 1:03 AM
Quite rude, but I’m genuinely here to understand your point of view. What is your issue with his speech? I’m a globalist, I pay a lot of attention to politics - our country hasn’t done well recently - but I can’t understand why that patriotic speech just there is upsetting you?
April 2, 2025 at 1:02 AM
A brilliant politician just made a worldwide impactful statement about a tyrannical dictator who seems to be taking over America. Im a normal Brit, who doesn’t take loads of notice of US politics, but with the tariffs and stuff we’re worried. Your guy was ace. What are you upset about?
April 2, 2025 at 12:57 AM
His closing 7 minutes had me in tears…sometimes atm it’s difficult to recall democracy in its purest form. @booker.senate.gov just showed the entire world why we need to keep our heads up - both sides of the Atlantic. Incredible scenes ✨
April 2, 2025 at 12:51 AM
@mrjamesob.bsky.social please may we have a chat about this in the morning?

What Cory Booked did today was epic.

It shows that “America” is not “Trump”.

All hats off.
