My friend was a Tory Councillor upt North around 15 years ago. Politics often comes up when I meet him. He’s a proper right winger, but without prompting he once said “I can’t see how any councils are reducing costs, I thought we were bare boning it 15 years ago, and it’s been cuts every year since”

Here in the UK this is a typical Autumn demand curve for 24 hours. In winter the peak is 46-48 GW but the low still hovers around 20GW.
Can you see the space where we are all encouraged to charge our EVs? EVs actually make the grid more efficient and cheaper per kWh

Electric trucks are far more important than electric cars. In Europe Mercedes eActros 400 & 600 along with Volvo and Scania offerings do absolutely everything that is needed from a truck for our European driving rules. They are amazing.

As an aside, the NOx sensor in my diesel Mercedes Vito “failed”, it’s quite common for the sensors to die before the item that they are measuring, but luckily only £1000 later I was up and running again 😢

Being an electronics geek when you made the video about air con, VCRs etc etc I’d convinced myself that I probably could have researched that myself if I’d thought to do it. But when you stray way out of my comfort zone and start taking apart combustion engines, I can see the depth of your genius ❤️❤️

Every single hydrogen trial should start by answering the question “How are you going to make hydrogen cheaper than electricity considering that it takes 1.2kWh of electricity to make 1kWh of hydrogen?”

Some industry loss, but mainly energy efficiency. We used to have 100 watt lightbulbs now we have 5W LED, all European home appliances are energy marked at point of sale etc etc. we’ve had energy efficiency drilled into us for 50 years. The decline is despite almost 2 million EVs too.

People can still work and get PIP to help out with their extra transport and life needs. Assuming that no amputees work is exceedingly poor, and you must never have seen the many many examples of successful amputees on TV.

Not a chart, but if you want a rough idea, you can multiply the average co2 kWh by the demand, both of which are falling
