Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill to Launch New Doctor Who Podcast, With Steven Moffat as Guest!
Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, who played the Eleventh Doctor companions, Amy Pond and Rory Williams, are set to launch a new podcast called “Pondcast” — and former Doctor Who showrunner, Steven Moffat, features as a guest in one episode! The pair discusses their time on Doctor Who in the podcast series, and it’s been confirmed that they’ve already recorded a few editions. Moffat reflected on Twitter (because we’re still not calling it “X”): “I mean, how on Earth could they get ME?? It’s almost inconceivable. But, you know, not very. I so enjoyed this. Haven’t seen it back, but it felt like one of the best Who interview I’ve done. Arthur and Karen are not a day older (yes, I know I am) and the loveliest people.” We don’t know when the Pondcast will be released, but we will obviously keep DWC readers updated when we do know. Gillan and Darvill starred alongside Matt Smith during Series 5 and 6, plus half of Series 7; they left in The Angels Take Manhattan, but Karen cameoed in Smith’s swansong, The Time of the Doctor in 2013 too. Surely it’s only a matter of time until Matt appears on the Pondcast? And what about Alex Kingston, who played their daughter, River Song, and is currently being amazing on Strictly Come Dancing? As long-time readers will know, I’m a big fan of this era of the show — it’s my Doctor Who, and I adore every little bit of it. I mean, I wrote a book about how genius The Pandorica Opens/ The Big Bang is! If I could, I’d turn the DWC into an Eleventh Doctor Appreciation Society! So yes, I’m excited to tune into the Pondcast — I rarely feel that excited about Doctor Who anymore, so this is a joyous feeling. Like this: Like Loading...
