Personally, I don't think Zarah Sultana or Zack Polanski should be discussing NATO in any way, it's just not a hill worth dying on. They're more likely to gain most votes by focusing on cost of living such as affordable housing and cheap energy, which more people care about.

Recently watched the show Chernobyl, and as much as it was a gripping drama and demonstrated the culture of cover-up and secrecy, it's always good to be reminded of the facts, which is why I love this chart from OWID showing the low rate of deaths from nuclear compared to fossil fuels

2024 set a grim record for tropical forest loss, with Bolivia losing 1.5M hectares, a 200% surge and Brazil clearing 6,288 km² of Amazon, largely due to fires set for soy, cattle, and sugarcane production. Climate-driven droughts also turned these fires into megafires, fueling a cycle of destruction

I was thinking about making an app like this recently where you can see how much climate change contributed to the weather you're experiencing on the day. Really interesting tool

Almost every type of voter thinks Britain has worsened in the past 10 years across all criteria. Surprisingly this includes Conservative voters even though their party was in charge for virtually all of it!

Researchers recently created a new colour, olo, by laser-targeting individual M-cones. Your screen can't do that, but it can fatigue your L-cones with red light and then hit the fresher M-cones with green. Focus on the "+" for 25 s, watch the flash, and note the hue you perceive

The idea that councils could become net zero by 2030 was incredibly ambitious. Gas boilers, electric car uptake, renewable energy generation- most of these things lie outside what the council can do.
