Unfortunately, Uzbekistan, under the regime of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is trying instead of dialogue to destroy the Karakalpaks and their national identity through repression and killings.

and on many occasions openly and very frankly discussed with them the issue of dialogue and ending repression. The last time I spoke with them was a week before I was arrested on February 15, 2024, at the request of the Uzbek authorities. ⤵️

I won’t even get into the question of respect for the residents of the Republic of #Karakalpakstan, where there is a state language – Karakalpak. The authorities of #Uzbekistan have long ceased to consider the Karakalpaks equal citizens of the country.
