U.S. Senator, Washington state | Senate Appropriations Vice Chair | Working every day to help people and solve problems
I have exactly zero intention of letting Donald Trump and Russ Vought decide how taxpayer dollars get spent.

I am fighting to make sure Congress does its job to pass funding bills so the American PEOPLE, through their representatives, decide where our money goes—NOT Trump.

Senate Republicans' SHAM hearing to discredit medication abortion, even though it is SAFER than Viagra, is not about science or protecting women's health—it's about their crusade to BAN abortion nationwide.

WATCH ⬇️
January 13, 2026 at 7:45 PM
PSA: the Trump admin has quietly put in place a near-total abortion BAN at VA.

This is an assault on veterans’ health care and a betrayal of women who have put their lives on the line for our country. SPEAK OUT.

I absolutely will not support any large-scale military conflict in Venezuela or a dangerous and expensive occupation.
January 12, 2026 at 9:25 PM
Trump's brazen act of war in Venezuela isn't America First.

It's Big Oil barons first.

It's billionaires first.

It's Trump first.

Spoken like someone who has never had to choose between paying for a prescription or putting food on the table.
January 10, 2026 at 1:19 AM
Would Republicans in Congress still nod their head and go along with it if Russia did what Trump did in Venezuela? Or China?

Can North Korea send the military to arrest South Korean leaders?

Can Iran make arrests in Israel?

Of course not—so let's stop playing dumb.
January 9, 2026 at 10:22 PM
Trump isn't even trying to hide why he attacked Venezuela: OIL. Americans don't want a war with Venezuela—especially not one to enrich oil executives.

Oil profits are not worth putting American lives at risk.

No war. No occupation. No "boots on the ground."
January 9, 2026 at 8:39 PM
Let me repeat: 2025 was the worst year for job growth outside of a recession since 2003.

Trump's economic policy has been nothing short of a disaster since the start. How about instead of starting wars with foreign countries, we fix our problems here at home?
January 9, 2026 at 6:28 PM
BREAKING: The House just passed a bill to extend the ACA tax credits for three years. Now, it's up to the Senate.

Leader Thune: let the Senate vote on this bill to SAVE health care.

I'm ready to vote YES to bring premiums down for millions of Americans.
January 8, 2026 at 10:18 PM
President Trump is ignoring the problems he has caused in our OWN country, all to start a war NO ONE asked for in Venezuela with no legitimate justification, no concern for the servicemembers being put in harm’s way, and absolutely NO long-term strategy.
January 8, 2026 at 7:19 PM
More like "the dangers of Republican politicians who want to ban abortion and control women's bodies."

Looking forward to discussing the science that unequivocally shows mifepristone is safe, effective, and essential.

Five years ago, I sheltered in the Capitol, praying the lock on my door would hold.

Alarms blared. Rioters screamed, "Kill the infidels."

I held my breath, not just because I was in danger, but because our democracy was. Democracy held, and I do still believe we can keep it.
January 7, 2026 at 12:22 AM
There is no reason to think the same President—now bolder than ever in challenging our Constitution—won’t try, once again, to get his way through threats and violence.

I won't let Trump rewrite history, and we ALL must use our voices & votes to protect our democracy.
January 6, 2026 at 11:08 PM
After getting sworn in, Trump pardoned violent Jan 6 rioters.

He didn't care if they beat cops or how dangerous they were. Now so many of them are back in jail for OTHER crimes like child pornography & kidnapping.

Trump endorses violence as long as it's in service to Trump.
January 6, 2026 at 9:42 PM
Five years ago today, President Trump incited an attack on our democracy, on the peaceful transfer of power, and on our Capitol Police.

Our democracy only works if we fight for it with our voices and our votes—so I'm going to fight for it.
January 6, 2026 at 2:10 PM
These people hardly believe in anything. They lied to the American people to win an election, and now we're all paying the price.

I opposed the war in Iraq from the outset, and I will oppose any war in Venezuela as well.

No occupation. No "boots on the ground."
January 5, 2026 at 9:12 PM
I met with local leaders in Whatcom County today to see and discuss the damage caused by historic flooding last month. I will do everything I can in the Other Washington to help recover and rebuild.

This next phase won't be easy—but together, we will get through it.

2025 RECAP: It was a long, tough year—but we have to remember that Trump is not all powerful.

Your voice and your vote MATTERS.

And when we all speak out and fight back, we CAN make a difference.

Let's keep up the fight.
January 1, 2026 at 10:56 PM
2025 RECAP: Trump is the most corrupt President in American history. Each and every day this year, he’s abused his power to line his own pockets & help his billionaire friends.

Trump has created a government run by the crooks, for the crooks.
December 31, 2025 at 2:25 AM
2025 RECAP: Trump's immigration agenda is to use egregious force and tactics to detain people—including U.S. citizens—and frighten entire communities.

His cruel mass deportation agenda has been nothing short of depraved, and there must be accountability.
December 30, 2025 at 6:11 PM
2025 RECAP: Trump & Republicans moved heaven and earth to make tax breaks for billionaires permanent by cutting Medicaid, SNAP & other programs families rely on.

Their pro-billionaire agenda has exploded the national debt by trillions while betraying working families.
December 30, 2025 at 1:42 AM
2025 RECAP: Trump and his multi-billionaire Secretary of Education have worked overtime this year to hollow out the Department of Education and hurt students, teachers, and families.
December 29, 2025 at 9:05 PM
2025 RECAP: Trump has single-handedly raised taxes on working and middle-class families more than any president in my lifetime with his reckless tariffs—raising costs on everything from groceries and electricity bills.
December 28, 2025 at 6:08 PM
2025 RECAP: From installing an anti-vax conspiracy theorist as our nation's top health care official to taking an axe to lifesaving biomedical research, the Trump administration has systematically put politics over science.
