Unfortunately not many shelters are very clean or taken care of. Also there are many rules set in place, so much so it's like you never left that abusive place. I remember my room have dirty streaks on the walls, flakey white stuff stuck in the carpet and sticky floors #writing #life

Part 8: After hurricane Sandy, I saw my friend at school who wasn't online and asked her how she held up during the storm. She told me that when the power went out her family and her had to hide from all the black hoods the were circling her side of town. Nature can do more then take your power out.

Whenever it rains very hard, my aunt likes to turn off all the electricity in the house. One time, I was waiting for the bus to go see my mom, a stranger just sat down next to me and just started talking to me about how I should not give up on life and how things will get better in the long run. I thought it was weird that he said those things to me when I never said that to him.
