Today's episode really matters. Hideyoshi and Hidenaga begin at the very bottom of a warring society, powerless physically and mentally. The brutal burning of their village painfully exposes the absurd cruelty endured by those trapped at the bottom of a violent world.

Poor Nao's dad... Toyotomi brothers pretty much took his wife and daughter. His comical cry for justice was a relief in today's really harsh episode.

Taiga drama time! Today’s episode felt just like The Three Musketeers! And Hitotsubashi Narihira’s use of the Noh mask was a clever hint toward today’s replacement drama. The best episode of all!

Taiga Drama: Sharaku, an artist whose identity was nearly unknown but who became briefly popular in Edo, was interpreted as a figure created by all of Tsutaju’s companions. What a fabulous idea!!

Taiga Drama time! Tsutaju’s wife absolutely dominated the episode! And that last-scene entrance by Uta… it felt like the arrival of the main hero!
