I should also say, the article doesn't really go anywhere or have a point other than " ai bad :( ", and while I'm personally not a fan, clearly the expansion of the "1 nite only" into 4 days clearly shows folks don't really care about the details of a hi-hat or thickness of a mouth line to not go

I did. I think the intended viewing experience is on VHS using a CRT TV on a Saturday morning because that's what inspired them to work with Matsumoto. Idk what the piece is talking about gushing over the animation "crisp lines" when the nostalgia factor is watching on blurry tv...

There aren't any HD negatives. The movie was animated in SD 4:3. It was never meant to be in theaters, either. Who's job is this replacing? Anime in 2001 is not where anime is now - not by a mile. This was a chance for daft punk to work with a hero and they took it how could things be done better?
