Mutex Instruments
@mutex-instruments.bsky.social
A Swedish company developing innovative instruments for creating electronic music.
Someone did a small write-up about Supriya and accidentally attributed the creation of it to our founder. Supriya was created by Joséphine Wolf Oberholtzer, and she is still maintaining it. So all credit goes to her!

As promised (albeit a bit late), a FM synthesis demo using Supriya!

No MIDI this time, but our founder did write a simple musical piece with the FM synthesis algorithms he made.

Reading FM Theory and Applications by John Chowning and David Bristow. For those of you who don't know, John Chowning is the father of FM synthesis. The book is excellent, and very approachable.

It's been a while since we posted anything. That's because our founder is in the hospital recovering from surgery, but will be going home soon. He wanted us to say that he's working on a new demo script that shows how to do FM synthesis with Supriya. He hopes to post it within a week or so.

We got some equipment that will make it much easier to film our progress and record demos of the different modules. So you all can expect a lot more videos in future posts!

Yesterday we started rewriting all of the hardware modules' code. We're moving from pure MicroPython to @circuitpython.org. One of the immediate benefits has been a complete implementation of all of the MIDI message types.

Our founder has been working on a menu system with a @adafruit.com 1.14" 240x135 Color TFT Breakout LCD Display. They're quite nice displays for the price. This one will go on the sequencer module. Made with @circuitpython.org !

Joséphine, the creator of Supriya, spoke at the recent SuperCollider symposium. She's already posted a Jupyter Notebook with code she used during her speech. Looking forward to checking it out!

Our founder's next Supriya demo script will be featuring SuperCollider's sampling functionality. He plans to use TB-303 samples in the script. If only he could have gotten it ready by today!

Happy 303 day! This has been collecting dust. Need to do something about that!
