Today’s the day - the @cinemaforall.bsky.social gala event and 100 Years of Community Cinema exhibition showcase at Bloc Projects gallery in Sheffield. I’m giving a guided exhibition tour at 3pm if anyone is nearby. Marking a century of community-led film exhibition in style!

Oh no. How dreadful. Having to discuss interesting things with lovely people! Such punishments you administer. I may die.

Oh bless you, Ayesha! Thank you!! I’m so delighted with how it has turned out.

It kept me insanely busy for the last few weeks (I’m so sorry - I know I owe you 40,522 emails) but the coming weeks are easier. I’m emailing you later today, but spoilers: it’s a yes to triffids if you’ll still have me!

Can we talk about the fact that the AHRC Catalyst and Curiosity funding schemes, 2 of the 3 major arts and humanities research grant schemes available through our national funding councils, currently have success rates of 5.1% and 6.9% respectively? I knew they were low, but WOW.

Brill. Will do! Got a couple of funding bids in the offing at the mo to support network formation etc so hold with me and I’ll add you to the email list as we get there.

I’ll absolutely send you a copy the moment I have a finalised, accepted version! I’d love to see what you make of it. I’m the meantime I’m pulling together a group of folks interested in film societies, their history and their cultural/social/economic/wellbeing/other value/s. Want me to loop you in?

No way - I just submitted an article that is partly about the activities of the London Australian Film Society in the 1990s! Didn’t know you were connected (though perhaps should have guessed).

A funding panel apparently liked my application so much they want to use it as an example for future applicants. A wee bit flabbergasted and more than a little proud of myself.
