My husband was just granted indefinite leave to remain in the U.K. and now I don’t know what we are going to do with all the drawer space freed up by not having to hold on to 5 years of utility bills, bank statements and council tax statements.

Oh look - it’s me popping up on Ayesha’s marvellous science fiction cinema podcast again! This time featuring triffids! Come have a listen - I had a proper giggle recording this.
The Day of the Triffids (1963) feels like a very 1950s film made in 1963. John Wyndham’s 1951 book of the same name, however, was a big hit and kicked off his writing career.

Can we talk about the fact that the AHRC Catalyst and Curiosity funding schemes, 2 of the 3 major arts and humanities research grant schemes available through our national funding councils, currently have success rates of 5.1% and 6.9% respectively? I knew they were low, but WOW.
