The official Airbus statement talks about solar-induced radiation corruption. We are at the peak of the 11y solar cycle, which fits. Although our flight was at night so perhaps it could have waited until morning - after arrival.🥱

If so, kudos to Airbus and/or the operators for figuring out the fix so quickly, having all those (presumably unaffected) spares lying around and getting them (and the techs) to the aircraft.

The interesting question is: what was wrong and how was it fixed? This article suggests a hardware replacement was being done: avweb.com/aviation-new...

During the initial delay I discovered an Eataly in the terminal (JFK T8) with good espresso and excellent filled-to-order cannoli so that time passed very quickly indeed.🏢

Other than arriving home bleary-eyed in the early hours, it was fine. The flight crew was great and the parents with small children even greater.

OK, thanks. It would be great if someone with the right background analyzed the dependence on oil revenues and published results. There was some discussion of this on Monday’s Ukraine: The Latest podcast (which I highly recommend) but it didn’t go quite far enough…

Thanks for writing up the webinar. Did they mention the drop in oil output due to attacks and the effect this might have on the economy?
