Oh, the unnecessary suffering I could have avoided if me and the people around me had known about my autism 50 years ago. Autism’s always been here—people just didn’t know what they were looking at. Classic confirmation bias--if you don’t know what to look for, you assume it’s not there.
Some rando on the internet: “We didn’t have all this Autism 30 years ago.”
Me: *Points at Autistic 37 year old self who has, in fact, been Autistic for more than 30 years (since Autism is a lifelong difference).
