In my continuing ed classes for teachers, one of the last assignments is to reflect on what you want to learn next after finishing the class. I then respond with any resources/book recs/organizations I can think of that will help them do that learning. I enjoy it as a way to keep the learning going

Mind is spinning after a great discussion with my grad class tonight about holding complexities and contradictions in teaching. My takeaway question: how do we help students build the self-regulation skills they need to be free, not to be compliant?

I want teachers to feel heard and supported, also want to ensure that we're coming from a strengths-based prspctv.

It's never a bad time to talk about core values in your classroom but this feels like an especially important time to talk about core values in your classroom. (And beyond it.)

Before moving into a stretch of independent work time in class, I have students write down a # in their spiral so I can circle the room and "triage" my support during that time #EduSky

(Added benefit: immediately builds in self-reflection for students in owning where they are at in their learning!)
