The midterm elections proceed normally, but after losing, the administration claims mass fraud. Prominent allies (e.g., Dan Bongino, Kash Patel) back the fraud claims and call for investigations. Mike Johnson, as House Speaker, refuses to seat the new Congress. Protests break out, and the military is deployed to suppress them. The unrest is then used to justify a national emergency, further consolidating power. The normalization of military force against peaceful protest (as seen in Los Angeles) makes such outcomes more feasible over time. As military deployment becomes routine, the public may become desensitized, making it easier to justify extreme actions later.
