What happen was it took so long for REAL ID to roll out because so many states pushed back on implementation. You are right many who work for ICE or Border Protection don’t know what they are. REAL ID grew out of post 9/11 changes and only finally became required for travel this past May.

I understand they try to scare us with large sounding numbers of fraud. But when you roll out a number that amounts to “rounding error” in program this size, you show yourself as not serious. Fraud in any amount is not acceptable but be accurate in the analysis.
