“Ide Were Were” is a Lucumí prayer to Oshun, Orisha of love and rivers. It praises the shimmer of her bracelets—cheke cheke cheke. This prayer cracked me open years ago, and my rendition grows from tender voice and guitar into a jubilant, percussive celebration, like a river finding its full flow.

I’ve never though of tarot as predicting the future but rather sparking ideas that you already have but might not be able to access consciously for whatever reason. This card fits the message of the song perfectly. It’s what my brother and I needed back then and what we are learning to give now
