Would definitely recommend switching to Clip Studio Paint (they do offer one-time payment options so you don't pay monthly fees), and they do sales fairly often to get it for a good price. In the meantime, there's Photopea, which I think is like a slimmed-down Photoshop. I've also tried Firealpaca!

I *have* had more luck with Ohuhu's regular marker paper, the one that's not marketed as bleed-proof. You can only color one side as it does bleed to the back, but there's no pooling, blending is easier and the colors look super sharp! It doesn't seem to absorb as much ink as bristol too.

Yep, I had the same problem with the Ohuhu (and the center of their paper is dark so when you soak the top layer with light colors, it looks darker!). I use bristol as well, the Neenah brand! It's nice and thick and I can blend fine on that. I just find it absorbs a lot and thus uses up more ink.

Lovely portrait! I recently tested some marker paper and *also* hated it... what paper were you trying out? (And was it the Ohuhu bleed-proof pads? XD)

And as a side note... I have a love-hate relationship with those grippies lol... They're GREAT for holding stuff yes, and opening items. But as someone with two cats, they're also quick to get COVERED in cat hair lol...

"Just use them inside out" I have, with some models. But most models nowadays also have silicone grippy pads on the palms, which are GREAT for opening bottles but means I can't just turn them inside out. I just wanna use gloves that won't hurt at the seams...
