rookie mistake in the final lap: thought the recipe for the cheesy garlic thumbprints said 8 TABLESPOONS of butter, but it was 8 OUNCES, aka 2 sticks not 1. I even thought to myself as I was whipping it up that it didn't look like enough butter for the volume of ingredients. trust your gut!!

cut out baked and decorated the sugar cookies 🎃 store bought royal icing cuz I couldn't be faffed. tried a new recipe, it's solid but more work and less tasty than my usual, which is BA's butter cookie recipe. that one is paywalled but I have a scan if anyone wants it, they're easy and very tasty!

also also also I acquired many excellent goodies on this trip, but chief among them are these vintage postcards from an antique book market in Nice, and this taxidermy butterfly from a VERY COOL taxidermy shop/museum in Paris called Deyrolle.

ALSO also, I was traveling with a friend, and we had gone to Paris in 2019 just a couple weeks before the Notre Dame fire, so we got to see it again post-restoration. truly a STUNNING transformation.

also hello hello I am home from France. we had a marvelous time, despite some bumps and the change in schedule (which didn't end up being necessary cuz the strikes were called off but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh well!). Nice and Eze were lovely and beautiful and I was very brave and spoke a lot of French 😊
