#WIPWednesday! Last week had too much going on irl to make this fic happen for Dimileth Trick or Treat, which is sad because I was really looking forward to sharing Dimitri forcing Byleth to drink his blood.
(Spacing’s horrendous because I had no time to open it on my laptop.)
“You’re real?” “Yes.” Your eyes… your skin…” He began pulling at a buckle on his left arm. “What are you doing?” “It can’t be helped.” He removed his gauntlet. “You once said you can drink from a person directly. Drink.” “Dimitri, I…” Sothis once told her to never drink from a person because of how late in her life it was when her crest awakened. “You would be like a snakelet, never knowing when to stop!” “You also look like you don’t have much blood to give.” “Drink, Professor.”

This wasn’t the first dimileth fic I read, but it definitely started a lot for me. It introduced me to a new song, even if the author and I listen to different versions of it. It introduced me to Twin Byleths where m!Byleth is named Reus. More importantly, this was *the* fic that introduced me to the fandom space. Talking with ninjababy in the comments was the first major fandom interaction I had, and that led me to becoming more than just a reader and writer. I began interacting with others on social media, joining servers, and participating in events. It was going from a reader and occasional writer to a part of the community. This event has been a fun time of looking back not only on my works, but the works of others, and I had to end it with something looking back at my time here as a whole.

Went out of my comfort zone by doing something I hadn’t done since I was a little kid with alphabet beads: making fandom bracelets! Did a whole set-up for my Blue Lions one, then made ones for Black Eagles and Golden Deer! Put so much thought into them and got a compliment from Mark Whitten!

Here’s the snippet directly influenced by that piece. My interpretation was Blaiddyd killed the Grim Dragon so that no one else would harm her. This takes place a few years after that.
His hands shook until he felt another set around them. He looked up and saw her there. Gráinne, her body whole, her glow more radiant than he had ever seen it. Gráinne placed her hands around his. “Please do not worry. Come what may, we will make it through.” She brought his hands to her lips, kissing them. “Together.” He repeated her loving gesture. “Together.” Yes, together. He had left her alone for so long. It was time to join her again. Whatever awaited him, they would face it together. He smiled at her as she guided Areadbhar to his chest. He heard the bone pierce his chest piece. He felt his flesh punctured by a claw.

I only had my AO3 account for a few months when I started playing FE3H, so my first fic seems really rough to me. It was mainly me working through how Byleth only uses one Divine Pulse to save Jeralt despite possibly having several.

“You’re already here? Did you jump out of your window?” “I was studying with Dedue for this moon’s proficiency exam next week. We agreed to study until the eleventh bell, then I had to wait a few moments for the curfew rounds to end.” Dimitri held out his arm. “Shall we, Professor?” Byleth closed her door and took his arm, leaning into him. “Lead the way.” He led her through the grounds, but Byleth was surprised when they turned instead of heading straight to the greenhouse. “Taking the long way around?” “Something like that.” He led her to the lawn where many of the students took their tea. At one of the tables was a simple set up: a small pot of tea with two cups, a few treats, and a red gardenia. “I want to have tea with you for my birthday.” “Dimitri, I had tea with you on your birthday.” “I had tea with Professor Byleth on my birthday. I want to enjoy a private tea with my beloved.” He pulled out a chair for her to take a seat.

Dimitri has thoughts during combat training.
Murmurs had filled the class on how these plans would go. Dimitri didn’t worry about himself and his childhood friends. Despite his lazy attitude, Sylvain was a better fighter than he appeared. Between years of pegasus riding and javelin throwing, Ingrid was a force to be reckoned with. Felix could manage, but he had spent so much time focusing on swordsmanship that he wondered if his friend could still fight without one. And thanks to his crest, Dimitri was a living weapon. He could easily crush a man’s windpipe with his hand. “Don’t put your blood to waste. You could crush a man’s skull if you wanted to.” Did he want to? His father was right, such a method would drive the point across. “Blaiddyds! None of you are men! You are all monstrous beasts! Be who you were made to be.” His stepmother had loved him, but she was right, he was not even a mockery of a man. Simply a beast in a dead man’s clothes, following the orders of his master.

Was only able to write one fic for #DimilethExchange this year, and now I get to share it! For AvaritiaFF: “Break Time,” a dimileth first meeting at a cat cafe! If you like modern AUs, dimileth awkwardly having an impromptu first date, and some background sylvcedes, definitely check it out!

Prompt: a stranger who breaks into a home This house once held warmth: the wooden toys strewn about, the salted meat waiting to be cooked, the residue of a hastily put out fire, the tableware both set out and shattered on the floor. But the warmth of a family was gone, dragged out by the Empire or Cornelia’s traitorous rats through the threshold of a busted door. Dimitri could only hope their ghosts would let him take whatever shelter their home had left to provide from the harsh Faerghan winter, knowing he fully deserved its cold emptiness.

“There were so many good sweets here! I know you don’t like them, Felix, but are there truly none you’re not even curious to try?” Just as Annette finished her question, something happened she was not prepared for. Felix leaned in and kissed her. The area around them lit up with the first few fireworks. She felt her face grow warm as Felix pulled away from her. The “booms” of the fireworks were quieter here, and underneath them she heard Felix mumble “Sorry.” Back at the picnic tables, Felix led her to the one his friends were sitting at. One one side was Ingrid and Sylvain, and on the other was Dimitri and a mountain of stuffed animals. Everyone greeted them. Felix stared at the mountain of toys. “Damn, Dimitri. What did you do? Play every game here?” “Oh, he didn’t play any,” the mountain replied. “He walked up to a few of the ‘Test Your Strength’ games and they gave us these to convince him to not play.”
