Reconnected with my high school pen pal this week. We started writing to each other as part of a class project in 1989, lost touch in 2016 and are back to writing in 2025. He will help me relearn French. I have forgotten most of it.

As an Oakland A’s fan, I find opening day rather empty. Thank goodness it is still hockey season. There is some joy in Mudville.

I feel so incredibly fortunate that, in my fifties, I can say many of my closest friends are friends I made in school. I have had the same best friend for over 45 years. I firmly believe my love of writing letters has something to do with it. Never underestimate the power of snail mail.

These days are frightening, but I am really looking forward to all of the amazing protest music, art, and literature that will be coming.

At the Lions District 4a2 Dinner in the Dark fundraiser for LCIF. Lions Club International Foundation has already issued multiple grants for California fire relief projects.
