Erbarme Dich, mein Gott from St. Matthew Passion or the Agnus Dei from the Mass in B Minor? A counter tenor fan.

Tess Jackson just conducted Rough Voices. Other pieces were directed from the violin by leader Zoë Beyers 😀

Nice to relive Saturday night’s concert today - I was there with my promming ticket. Second time this year I’ve seen the Britten Simphonia playing Tabla Rasa (first was at the back of Norwich Cathedral). The double bass finally gets to shine!

Agree with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir prom - we were lucky to see the same programme at Snape Maltings the next night. Stunning!

The air BnB host where I am staying, has changed the kitchen radio to radio 3. Another convert!

And Anoushka Shankar’s prom - that took you to another place. I was lucky to see her first proms appearance at tge RAH with her father.

The Late Junction prom 3 days ago. You can hear these sessions on the radio, but seeing how it happens, and how the sounds are created in front of you is something else!

1 piece you could t live without? Probably Mahler 6. All of life is in that symphony. Such a life changing moment back in 2003 seeing it at the proms with Bernard Haitink and the European Union Youth Orchestra. You know when you step out of the RAH and it’s like stepping into a Dali painting?

‘I Must Go To The Sea Again’ - great memories of singing that in concert with the a Capella choir when I was young.

Yes it’s been a great week of Breakfast shows!

Music that takes you to another place? There was a weekend back in 2005 at The Queen Elizabeth Hall & Purcell Room dedicated to Xenakis. That was my introduction to his weird & wonderful sound world.
August 6, 2025 at 6:30 AM
which started with taped cityscape sounds and footsteps from New York played out around the arena.

Talking about memorable proms, two that stand out in my memory are Verdi’s Requiem shortly after 9/11. That took on a whole new meaning and was an emotional experience for everyone in the RAH. Similarly with John Adam’s Transmigration of Souls, his response to 9/11….

Great morning of music again. Adiemus takes you back to Saturday mornings 30 years ago on the ‘other’ channel!

‘The Canadian Set’ / a great start to Saturday & something Fiona Talkington might have played on Late Junction (miss her on that show).
