🚨 YouTube Feature Alert: Voice Replies 🗨️

You may be able to leave voice replies to comments (on mobile for iOS).

This can be a great way to build a connection with your audience.

Rolling out to channels now. Do you have it yet?

Got knocked off my posting streak due to a technical glitch, but I'm working on getting right back at it now that it's cleared.

I was up to about 63 before it happened, which is the highest it had been in a long time.

Good reminder -> Consistency over perfection.

Winter can be a challenging time to practice photography, but with a little creativity we can still come up with some good options for different conditions and locations. Here are a few of my favourites.🌨️

Do you ever hold a what you think is a "good post" in reserve, so that you can post it at an ideal time, or a time when you have more time for engaging and responding to comments?

Or do you just "post the post" when it's ready?

Asking for a friend. 😉😂

December plans looking like👇

🖥️ Publish Episode 41 of the podcast
🎧 Complete a couple of podcast interviews
🎥 Finish a sponsored video I've been working on
🍲 Share a potluck dinner with the team
📸 Take some photos here and there
❤️ Spend some time with family

How's your month looking?

A shot from our first significant snowfall this morning.

I've started adding titles to the first slide of my photo carousels on Instagram.

Helps provide some context for the set, hinting that there's a story to the collection and that it's not just a random group of photos.

While working on filming the next podcast episode, I came to realize it's worth hooking up a wide-angle lens versus using the webcam.

With the wide-angle, your face isn't so "close" to the screen, and it's much easier to cut clips.

An iPhone or a Mirrorless cam works fine for this.

I was experimenting with trying to "save" this shot with some additional cropping and editing, but in the end, I think that I like the zoomed-out version better.

A reminder that sometimes our original inclination was right, and more "tweaking" doesn't necessarily mean "better."

When should you seek to monetize your content creation?

If you ever plan to scale things up, the answer is as soon as possible.

This will help you learn, build systems, and attract the right audience.

I did this exercise early this morning to help envision the content plan for next year.

It's a good way to think beyond constraints and more towards what we'd ideally like to see in our own content.

Combine with a mood board for maximum effectiveness.

Even when we're posting consistently, we still have periods of higher and lower productivity as content creators (measured in quality and quantity).

Here's what I've learned about coming out of low-productivity periods.

My first remix with Ideogram AI! 😀🙌

The left shows an original generation from Mystic POD, the right shows the remix from Ideogram.

Mystic is excellent, but oftentimes any model needs a bit of help to finalize the result - either from a person and/or another AI.

There are so many AI tools out there for everything now, it can be hard to know which ones are best for what use cases.

For Print-on-Demand sellers, this Detour Shirts video offers a great comparison of three leading AI design tools.

I started working on the edits for Podcast Episode 41 this weekend, using some of the fantastic AI tools in Descript.

One thing I've learned from previous experience: it is better to go a bit lighter on editing "filler words/phrases" and focus more on "section relevance."

One of my favourite photos from our recent trip to Montreal.

I loved the contrast between the lights and bright yellow leaves, and the grey weather and concrete. Always a good thing to look for in photography.

✨Creative cross-purposing can be a superpower for content creators 🎥

Our Open House event today at Georgian College exemplifies how I've learned to do this, allowing me to maximize my creative output without burning out. 🔥

What I like about the 1of10 Finder AI thumbnail tool is that it follows the "Rule of 3:" No more than three main elements per thumbnail.

That keeps the thumbnail designs super simple, and therefore more "clickable."
