This is wrong on every level. It’s a rigorous process that can take years. Just because a small number of rotten people faked being blind or paralyzed doesn’t mean the system should be gutted or over 9 million veterans getting benefits smeared. This is so dam irresponsible of WaPo.

Agreed. And unfortunately, where we are living the direct consequences of a literacy crisis & the rise of anti-intellectualism, people can't tell the difference between "she's not that nice to work for" and "she thinks I'm less than a human because I'm trans".

And Dems as a collective have to get over this quest for the perfect candidate. There will never be a perfect politician, because there are no perfect people. Do we want somebody that does the job that we need done, or do we want somebody that everybody likes? We can't have it both ways

She was a single mom that was able to get elected because she was a real person. The article mentions that she was on the outs with the Biden team who, let's be clear, was full of establishment Democrats. Kind of seems like she's getting the Mamdami treatment to me, but make it sexist & classist

It doesn't even have to be that bad. My issue is that people are pretending her rudeness is a failing that makes her bad at her job. My issue is that people who are bad at the job still get elected. We can't afford to exclude people that are good at the job just because they're rude

So she's a bit of a bitch. Does she do the things that we need her to do in our government? Same thing with Harris. She laughed funny and didn't grow up poor enough, so that was enough of a reason to turn out backs despite her being the most qualified candidate to ever run

I guess this makes me a centrist...but I'm kind of over us being nitpicky about candidates. From what I understand, Porter was excellent as a representative and there was a lot of popularity contest posturing around why she didn't make the leap to Senate.

I am simultaneously elated and devastated that we get to see this side of her. Elated because I know she's been waiting to let loose for YEARS. Devastated because the fact she is letting loose means that she is done with trying to fix this country. If she runs again, I will be shocked.

Portland is pretty cool, very laid back. Great example of how absent a considerable amount of Black people, how liberal white folks become. Oregon was originally founded as a state that excluded Black people completely, & only about 3.5% of the population is Black now.

This is disheartening. I want all races in my community and unfortunately I think this is racist. I understand the black community wants to be supported, it’s coming off as a one way street. I’ve encountered racism lately all from mentally unstable black women. Blacksky will further segregate people
