Although... desoldering these things (especially since it's such a wide connector) could certainly be a bit painful.
February 14, 2026 at 2:53 PM
I suspect that's going to be next to impossible unless you know the exact part number and it happens to be something that's actually still stocked somewhere. I'd probably just try to find someone that can help with the rework instead. The board isn't cramped, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Make sure to double check that you're getting one with the pins on the correct side though: these are available in variations that expect a ribbon cable with the traces either on top or the bottom.

With very high probability you can fit just about any random 60 pin 0.5mm FPC connector (from digikey, mouser, etc). The placement of the side pads varies a bit, but exact shape isn't usually too critical, so if you check datasheet that the legs are roughly in the right place, it'll likely be fine.

Sure, but my point is that the value proposition can be pretty complicated and even different on tactical and strategic levels and having the option to use expensive missiles in some cases is still useful.
February 14, 2026 at 2:03 PM
Oh, when I was asking about the solder mask I was kinda wondering how it fits into the whole CNC process. Are you masking the pads or how does that work?

Besides rivets, just soldering a wire through (both sides) is also an option for vias, but still tedious and take up more space than a fab via.

In the long term the cost of multiple missiles used to defend the same target add up and the total cost might eventually exceed the value of the target independent of the cost of the drones, but given enough short-term value in defending the target the value proposition can still be there.
February 14, 2026 at 12:20 PM
There is actually another angle to consider though: if the expected damages from the drone striking it's target exceed the cost of the missile, then shooting the drone down is still cheaper. So expensive missiles can still make sense to protect high-value targets even if the economics don't scale.

What do you use for the soldermask here? I've done some simple one-layer THT boards this way, but soldermask should simplifier tighter pitches... although vias are still problematic, I guess?

I'm confused. I don't see any squares with 220ohm resistors? Am I just blind?

I've been tortured for being who I am. It's still about survival.

Maybe remove the word "protecting" from the question?

It's effectively the same thing as LGBT vs. LGBTQIA+ where you don't usually expected rainbow people to exclude QIA+ when the term LGBT is used, but the more complex term makes it more explicit to the "ordinary people" that gender and sexuality are more complex than meets the eye.

I've always interpreted the extended flag as being more of a statement aimed at the cis-hetero folks that pride stands even for the minorities inside the minority and inclusivity doesn't mean you get to cherry pick whom you include. Personally, seeing either flag anyway makes me equally happy.

I think metal would be more common Phrygian Dominant, which happens to be quite weird to think of as either modifier minor or major... but the real trouble starts when you want to play 12 bar blues with I,IV,V all dominant 7ths (doesn't get easier when you throw in some 9s) with a "neutral" 3rd. 😛

As someone who comes from classical background (and other instruments), I've never really understood what the practical utility of "modes" would be in the first place. Ever since baroque western music rarely sticks strictly to a single scale anyway.

"Deep State" means the people in Epstein files, right?

Perhaps worth some emphasis that Outlook (the client for Exchange) and Outlook Express (pictured here) were more or less completely different applications at the time. I'd say the former was the better product, where as for the latter there were better alternative even then.
