It's also a powerful slogan because it's going to trigger some "it's NOT ok to be white" responses, which racists can point to and claim they're under attack. To the engaged, we can see this as obvious manipulation, but to the disengaged who take it as honest it is a powerful message.

Can't tell you how many times I've seen people repeat a dog whistle, claim it only means what they think it means, and also claim that they don't hate anybody. Because they're just parroting media on faith that it's a good and moral message.

This is why media literacy is important. RW media is riddled with dog whistles and their audience is trained to be deaf to them while also claiming the mantle of "tolerance".

I'll argue it is an important data point in that it signals intent. I would agree that it shouldn't be taken at face value.

Ok, but Jeffries not only strikes me as insincere, his actions confirm it. The social media performance should be consistent with the job performance. So far he has performed poorly in that regard. So you'll forgive me if I see this is another example of the set precedent.
