I was so sad 😔

I know I’m doing a terrible job of describing the experience, but this is the most beautifully weird thing I’ve played, and it’s free. There’s literally no excuse to not play it.

Visuals aside, the game also plays very well. No crazy movement tech, but the running and jumping actually felt very good (good enough to do parkour). 100% a story-focused game, but the moment to moment gameplay is not compromised by this.

If you’ve ever watched ENA, it felt exactly like I was playing through an episode. The experience was spot on. Definitely going to replay it because I accidentally progressed the game before doing some quests and spent 30 minutes straight joyously flabbergasted at the trip of a game that ensued.

I’ll admit that I’m pretty basic in terms of the types of games I play (visually), but Dream BBQ is the most visually interesting thing I’ve played in absolute ages. Something about the surreal 3D environments mixed with 2D, beautifully hand animated characters was so amazing to play.

Anyway, the Nintendo Direct was pretty neat. I think that Somnium FIles 3 being real is freaking hilarious, and I'm excited for Metroid Prime 4: Samus's Descent into Lesbianism.
