Sea fully hits the nail on the head here and I need everybody to understand this: Censorship is never, ever harm reduction. It only serves to enable harm, to make survivors unsafe, to cut us off from histories and experiences, and let people sweep real abuse under the rug.

There is so much going on here that it’s hard to raise just one alarm bell, but I want to talk about the HUGE red flag that is that last bullet point.

Banning content not because of any ostensible legal reason (which I reject outright anyway) but just because… it’s uncomfortable? gross? deviant?

Having a hard time reconciling exactly what these policies will mean for game designers who sell on itch.io in any capacity. So many games "contain" these themes and topics without having them as part of the narrative... the line isn't in the sand, it's somewhere underwater and constantly moving.
