This government really can't resist an opportunity to prove how out of touch they are. A pub that is dead at 11pm is hardly going to pick up if only it can stay open until 3 in the morning.
Ah yes. The reason people aren't spending money at pubs in the evening is because what they really wanted was a cheeky cider at 3am. Ya know? Rather than because there's still a cost of living crisis and everyone is preparing to choose between heating and eating, not heating and a pint.
They don't usually win on 9 anyway. It's protected in the same way as being a homophobic freak. In the comfort of their own head they believe what they want, but they can't use that to excuse abusing people.
Did you manage to get data on clinicians splitting their time between NHS and private services? As they've been running a monopoly on both private *and* NHS provisions.
See also: literally the same thing happening to trans healthcare. An executioner brought in to gut the service and then showered with money and honours. E.g. the Cass report cost more money than running the trans services for Wales.
And by "more" I mean "more than the Tory's 1" because we should not be living in a world where the Tory membership are pushing back on transphobia harder than Labour's.
Jenrick (like Mahmood) is talking the language of "great replacement". That's why they both are pushing the same sentencing policy to give white men shorter sentences. And why Labour can't call it racism - they're doing and saying the same things.
"The panel claimed that [gender critical views] had [been] “silenced” [... and unable] to discuss them without being criticised." If being published daily in papers without pushback is criticism and silencing, trans people desperately need the platform more than them.
And it's an anthology so it'll be compartmentalised where each writer has a different focus. E.g. the chapter on "white power" music probably isn't covering lobster boy.
With 300 pages and it covering breadth over depth, those numbers would make sense. E.g. "trans" is on 7% of pages. And while it feels like we're enemy #1, we're not in concentration camps like immigrants=24. An odd one is hispanic=4 and mexican=2 Though the world is larger than the UK and US.
In other words - if think the argument "privatise all healthcare, it might make it easier to medically transition!" won't convince trans people because any of us who haven't had personal experience of how sh*t that is, knows someone screwed over by private too.
Ok...? Same applies to idk. Roads. If you want to live in your own mini state where you pay for everything yourself, feel free I guess? Also, private services aren't delivering either. Often because they're run by the same people running the NHS services. And most private insurance doesn't cover it.
It's near cultish. He spent all day yesterday complaining about Jenrick doing racism which is weird because he wasn't OK with the word "racist" last week, and didn't have any problem when Labour proposed *the same* policy to "address two-tier policing".
