I guess it’s immaterial. Copper's departure felt like laying a ghost to rest. "How long ago did we lose you?" They got some extra time thanks to clay, but they had to leave sooner or later. That which has once left the living must leave once more

Did clay lead them astray or is belief in the somewhere better necessary? If the latter, what does it mean that the others found peace without it?
