This is why "just block and ignore" is TERRIBLE advice. Without social pressure to be good, people become deplorable. When lies are allowed to spread unfettered without pushback, the liars win. If you don't shame a devil, he feels empowered. We have "just blocked and ignored" our way into fascism.
We lost the institutional ability to say when people were fudging the truth, or lying, or just incorrect about things, and what's happened is that without the social pressure to not be a deranged maniac, the most powerful people in the country have fallen into bizarre, all-consuming delusions
