yeah i usually laugh at the very futile debates that can happen here, but this one, for once, is a good and interesting one.

a depressing one, yes, but still interesting.

i would point out that i believe in a socialist state with good laws and good people that would have a military dedicated to defense is something possible and the concept is not always delusional, but you make a very valid point that is unfortunately way too correct in our current climate.

on principle yes, but i have doubts on the capacity of the population to make up militia to defend people like me/us against a fascist invasion.

if there was a fascist army landing on our beach tomorrow, all i can imagine is my neighbors selling me in a heartbeat to buy their own ticket to safety.

so yeah a lot of debates and opinions, i'm personally to tired and still in recovery to participate in any meaningful way but it has some good reading in there.

and with all of that they're still asking us, the working class, to pay for it while billionaires don't, so we be losing people to wars, and money to make weapons, while those asshole still enjoy their place in the sun (while collaborating with other fascists states) so that's another problem.

and there are a lof of mask off moments where so called "lefties" are saying shit like "we need an army to defend our resource extraction in africa against russian influence" and i feel like i need to remind people that decolonization is a leftist thing that we should uphold whatever the cost.

but on the other hand, france is turning fascist very fast, and using the opportunity of rearming to protect its interest in our neo-colonial sphere of influence (the main fascist party wants to rearm but want to realign from europe's bloc to russia's, that tells you everything you need to know).

for once it's an interesting debate. i, for one, don't really know what the correct call is tbh. yes i consider russia as an existential threat (for their treatment of queer people to only point out one thing from many) and i consider not letting ukraine down and help them fight a necessity.
