I looked it up. An "ex-officio" is someone who holds a position because of their status. She's a current member of the board.
Rep. Joyce Beatty, an ex-officio member of the Kennedy Center's board, has sued the admin over the attempt to add Trump's name to the building — arguing that renaming would require an act of Congress since the original name was established through legislation signed into law.

Seriously screwed up. Trumps tactic of suing everybody might be something to emulate. Every piece of misinformation that defames someone and we sue. Need a host of retired lawyers willing to do good works for the satisfaction of it. Keep them constantly in depositions.
