I think it’s because capitalism may well be in its end days

There are many MANY parts of life that do not benefit from being marketised and this is one of them.

Curses!

Thankfully I remembered and stopped being annoyed with myself

It takes a while to get there - so please don’t panic now and let the fear of tomorrow spoil today xxx

We have introduced the Market into education and we are living with the consequences for all (and ignoring the bigger issues). This was interesting www.instagram.com/reel/DRpbVW5...

But what is not OK is how my lovely Sam has very little opportunity to contribute and how my recent graduate son has no job…and huge debts.

I’ve been busy over the last week or so doing annual reviews and pointing out to all who will listen that ‘independence’ doesn’t mean having to do everything yourself. We are social creatures and we need each other and this is more than OK.

And the reason why this is : the economy. Opportunities beyond the school days. What do we all do with our time and how do we measure success in life?

There will be something else that comes along to gobble up their time, I’m sure

We are wedded to the current way of doing things. We need a really bold and different vision or any change will just be rearranging the deck chairs, if I’m going to be really honest about it.

*looks at capitalism and those making money out of education + disability again*

It really is. My son is now 25 and I stayed at home until my youngest went to school…which turned into 10 years! I did some self-employment but really couldn’t have managed anything else. We were all too poorly and too knackered.

I agree. It’s a proxy - and not a very good one at that

And lots of people just don’t think in those terms

Hmmmmm *side eyes Austerity and Late Stage Capitalism ie Neoliberalism*

Can they though? I’m curious. Genuinely so (and in a contrary, questioning mood)

I am old too. I was told today that something was only funny because I was of the older generation 😳

I agree in principle, but I’m thinking of the practical realities of life - teachers do this but I think because of teachers standards rather than EA duties (I think most people don’t know about the EA, for instance)

I try not to contact uni-baby every day, but with medication changes the only way she could come up with a reminder for herself was…me! Argh

We try to give them space to be and find themselves

We all track each other…and they delight in opening the door to me in a spooky way when I get home from work 😂😂
