People want to downplay what's happening in the US, but I have a Hispanic surname that dates back to a Spanish land grant (before CA was even a state.) People came to our door asking about who lives here and whether any of us are Spanish speakers. This is CA, so I imagine it's much worse elsewhere.

An earth science course back in the 80s--before climate change was politicized. The course covered why "global warming" became "climate change". It was easier to change the name than to explain how warming oceans can result in more severe weather. We've been dumbing down science ever since.
