Screening can be a powerful tool to help beat cancer. Northern Ireland’s bowel, cervical and breast cancer screening programmes are there to spot possible signs of cancer before they’re noticeable.
Screening saves lives. cruk.ink/4hA3rsY
Image of hands holding a letter with text above the image reading “Screening can help beat cancer.”, text in a pink circle over the image reading “When you’re invited, don’t ignore it.”. Underneath the image is Cancer Research UK’s name and logo, and text that reads “supported by” the Health and Social Care (HSC) and their logo, and Be Cancer Aware and their logo.

🏳️‍🌈 Levels of domestic abuse in the LGBTQIA+ community are shocking and too often go unreported.

Grateful to launch vital research from @HereNI, funded by my Department, exposing this reality.

I want to ensure we recognise all victims and tailor support to meet their needs.

The scale of suffering and bloodshed in Gaza is intolerable.

Alongside party leaders from across the UK, I have written to the Prime Minister demanding immediate action.

Parliament must be recalled to end arms sales, introduce sanctions and uphold international law.
Screen grab of letter from MPs, MLAs, MSPs & MSs to the PM condemning UK support for Israel’s actions in Gaza. It highlights a man-made humanitarian catastrophe, including famine, mass killing of children, and denial of aid — violations of international law and the Genocide Convention. It condemns the killing of journalists, defends the right to protest, and also condemns Hamas for the 7 Oct attacks, killings and hostage-taking. The second page of the letter continues, urging the Prime Minister to act immediately rather than wait until September, warning that every day of delay means more deaths and starvation. It highlights the UK’s obligations under the Genocide Convention and risks of continuing political, diplomatic, and military support for Israel. It calls for recalling Parliament to impose sanctions, supporting a ceasefire, ending arms sales, backing international investigations, and ensuring unimpeded delivery of aid. The letter concludes that the UK’s moral standing will be judged by whether it stands for humanity or remains silent.

I am deeply saddened to hear of David's passing. He had such a positive spirit and always stood up for those in his community, being a voice for everyone.

My thoughts are with David's friends and family. He will be sorely missed.

BBC Radio Ulster this morning talked about meeting probation staff and the incredible work undertaken by PBNI to challenge and change people’s attitudes, to rehabilitate people and stop them reoffending. Read more about our role 👇

Advances in technology & AI have led to a massive increase in image-based sexual abuse and the impact on victims is devastating.

That's why I'm taking steps to criminalise sexually explicit deepfakes.

Precisely the point I made to the Health Minister: the prescribing environment does need fixed, no question. But not *only* for puberty blockers.

“Police officers demonstrate remarkable courage daily & it's unacceptable for them to endure abuse while doing their job.”

Justice Minister @naomilong.bsky.social spoke during the NI Police Federation's campaign launch 'Let Them Protect', aiming to bring awareness of attacks on the PSNI.

There was nothing in it for me or for Alliance?

I get that you disagree with our decision and understand that: however, it was driven solely by safety concerns raised by the Commission on Human Medicines around the prescribing environment.

To suggest otherwise is nonsense.
naomilong.bsky.social
No. I'm not okay with it. And have never said I was.
naomilong.bsky.social
Lee, I never said transphobes didn't exist or that anti-trans activism wasn't real. I said the reason for *my* decision re puberty blockers was CoHM concerns regarding the prescribing environment.

So, no, I don't think that is okay as you would know from everything I have said on the issue.

Last Friday I had the pleasure of visiting @GreenwoodHouse, meeting some of their amazing staff and pupils and seeing what a fantastic school community they have created, despite resourcing issues making their job considerably more difficult. Thank you for having me!😊

This #DementiaActionWeek, I'm joining @alzheimerssoc in raising awareness of common dementia symptoms. We all need to #KnowTheSigns of dementia so that we can seek an early and accurate diagnosis if we need it. For more info, visit: alzheimers.org.uk/checklist
A blue graphic with white text reading. “Dementia Action Week. Dementia: Know the signs. 1 – difficulty organising things or staying focused. 2- problems using words or communicating. 3 – Problems with vision or judging distances. 4 – Getting confused about where you are, what time it is or what’s real. 5 – changes in mood, personality or behaviour. 6 – problems with memory. If you or a loved one is experiencing any of these symptoms, it could be a sign of dementia. Check your symptoms at alzheimers.org.uk/checklist.”

We want to hear from private renters in Northern Ireland.

Earlier this year Housing Rights launched the “The Private Rental Affordability” Survey to learn more about renter’s experience in Northern Ireland as the cost of living rises.

Had a great time with @connieegan yesterday visiting Bangor Academy’s Law and Politics Society. It’s always a pleasure to get to sit down with pupils to discuss politics, justice or Alliance, especially when they have as interesting questions as this group!

I set out these points in the Chamber this week in relation to the approach my department will take to the judgment.

I have no vires in relation to sport/football and no power to strike down decisions by others.

If there's a legal challenge, it will be for a Judge to make that call.

Over 5,300 people in Northern Ireland live with MS, but the symptoms are different for everyone and are often invisible. Having #MSConversations isn’t always easy but they are important and opening up can be empowering.

For help and support; www.mssociety.org.uk/get-involved...
Image reads “MS Awareness Week 2025, 28 April- 04 May” on top left corner. In the centre it reads “I’m supporting MS Awareness Week, Start your conversation. #MSConversations”. Catastrophic damage is being done to our environment with lives, homes and farms being put at real risk.

Anyone with information that can bring those responsible for deliberately lighting malicious fires to justice should bring it immediately to the Police or CrimeStoppers.
