Carl's Doomsday Scenario by Matt Dinniman

🍡8/10 Benjamins on a stick🦎

Intrigue increasing! I ordered it for click and collect on the way to work this morning, picked it up and now its done, and shit I can't take a series with me when I travel... so I guess I have 3 weeks to smash thru em all? 🤷‍♀️

Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman

🕳8/10 oh shit babies 💣

Accidentally got roped in to another series but its nice and light (minus all the existential dread). Lots of fun world building but also a lot of mechanics talk. Congrats to Carl for being a top 👏

Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle

🎹7/10 Baby Grands🚭

I like parts of this. It's fun, it's gory, it's gay. I preferred Camp Damascus but I think it just hits my history more.

Technically- wish it had a bit more room in act 3. Emotionally- i was hate crimed by the exec slaying the boots mamma diva 😘

Hercule Poirot's Christmas by Agatha Christie

💃7/10 precariously balanced cannon balls💃

The amount that this book wants you to know that characters are fuckable but sadly related kinda blows. Better book for having poirot in it, but only an okay use of mystery writing tbh 🤷

An English Murder by Cyril Hare

🙄4/10 improper felicitations to landed gentry🙄

Verbose and dull unfortunately

The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth

🦢8/10 stolen pedalos🦢

Loved the last book by this author so thought I'd treat myself to a relaxed silly romance. Cut to me on the train weeping so hard I had to take my glasses off to see. Good little book about making the most of the time we have.

Hungerstone by Kat Dunn

🍬9/10 heavy lidded eyes🫦

Retelling of Carmilla that hits deep in the villainy and rage. The terrible bargain of allowing yourself to want things.

Giving Ginger Snaps "I get this ache... And I, I thought it was for sex, but it's to tear everything to fucking pieces."

BYO FOOD: This is much cheaper but will require a bit of forethought!

The nearest tesco express is at Royal Victoria DLR stop, which is one stop away from Excel, but Excel is BIG. Don't waste time coming and going, get it before you arrive!

Guards Guards by Terry Pratchett

🫡1 in a million chance that just might work🫡

Brain has been too full to read which is a sad state of affairs but I made the effort for a statuesque woman.

One of my favourite therapy memories was about stopping bad self talk

Therapist: so I want you to tell me what the worst version of yourself looks like

Me: *describing the bog girl from pocketss comics*

T: .... You're ... a creature? 🤔

Me: *suddenly realising she didn't mean physically*

The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon

🌚9/10 molemen mudlarkers🌚

Smashed through this in an evening - the world building of book two really allowed the world to expand in book three. Brutal, brutal stakes. Gripped from start to finish.

The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon

💀8/10 Penny Dreadfuls🖋️

2nd in a series, and revised, so it makes the most of its 535 pages. There is a LOT in this one. I like the underworld and the MC - yet again the world building sings, but it was just...so massive to lug about. Desperate to finish the rest!
