I sometimes record my daily life for postcrossing members.
I am Japanese and my English is poor.
I visited Matsue Castle, a national treasure located in Matsue, Shimane.
This castle was built 400 years ago. The old, authentic castle exudes great dignity and a magnificent aura.
Matsue is far from major cities, and there were hardly any foreign tourists.

This morning's TV show was buzzing with excitement over the live broadcast of the New Year's sunrise.
The sight of the sun rising from the summit of Mount Fuji is called "Diamond Fuji." It's a truly special view.

I recently visited a very auspicious place.
It was Izumo Taisha shrine in Shimane.
This is a very famous shrine known for its blessings in matchmaking.
It is also said that every year around November, all the gods from across Japan gather here to hold a meeting.

Happy New Year!
It's now 2026 in Japan.
This year, I'll continue posting about my simple daily life with DeepL translation.
Wishing you all a wonderful year!

In Japan, the last day of the year is called Omisoka.
And on omisoka, there is a custom of eating soba noodles.
I ate some very delicious soba at a shop called "Kamiyo Soba" in Matsue, Shimane.

Another essential New Year's decoration is the kagami mochi.
This consists of two layers of mochi rice cakes, one large and one small, displayed inside the home.
After the New Year celebrations end, the family eats the mochi together.

Another common New Year's decoration is the shimekazari.
It is displayed above the entrance to homes and shops.

Preparations for New Year's decorations are underway throughout the city.
The most representative New Year's decoration is the kadomatsu. While it has become less common to display them in front of homes, large buildings like department stores and banks still feature impressive kadomatsu decorations

Yesterday I went to a sushi restaurant in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki. The fish was cut into large pieces and very satisfying to eat! Since it's a sushi restaurant located at the fishing port, the freshness was excellent! The downside is that the seating is cramped and uncomfortable, but it was delicious.

Mount Fuji can be seen far in the distance.

The time has finally come to use this precious stamp I've been saving! Isn't a stamp with breasts showing pretty rare?

Merry Christmas!
Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Tokyo Central Post Office had Christmas decorations.
The bear plushies are Japan Post's mascot characters.
It looks like Christmas Eve and Christmas will be rainy nationwide in Japan. I wish it would snow instead.

Nagano Market, where merchandise featuring characters by ChiiKawa creator "Nagano" is sold.
A large Christmas tree was decorated with many newly released small plush toys.
And when I took a photo of my favorite character, my reflection appeared in the shot.

I'm preparing letters to send to friends this New Year, along with some tea.
I bought some cute, winter-themed envelopes.
I'll get them stamped with the special Year of the Horse postmark on January 2nd before mailing them.
Next year is the Year of the Horse in Asian countries.

I ate biryani at an Indian restaurant.
It was spicy, had a wonderful aroma, and was delicious!

Today I went to see an exhibition of original artwork from the manga City Hunter.
City Hunter is a popular manga that began serialization in Jump 40 years ago. The hand-drawn manuscripts were incredibly beautiful and powerful.

These are also stamps I bought on a flea market app.
I've posted these stamps before, but I absolutely love these old stamps. They're very large and look great, yet they're low-denomination so they're easy to combine with other stamps.
The design on this stamp is "Jonomai(The Opening Dance)."

I got these Pokémon stamps cheap using a coupon on a flea market app! I use Pokémon stamps all the time, so I can never have enough. These stamps feature Pokémon from different seasons and are super cute.

The other day I had tuna rice bowl at a place called Kotobuki-tei in Noda, Chiba.
It was packed with fresh tuna yet very affordable—around $10.
At tourist spots in Tokyo, it would cost more than double that.

It's been two weeks now without a single postcard arriving. I feel very lonely and anxious.
Will they all arrive together eventually?
December 11, 2025 at 11:05 AM
The other day I found an interesting pamphlet at the Travelers Information Center. It's the Tokyo Anime Map. It introduces lots of must-visit otaku spots in Tokyo.
If I ever meet an otaku who wants to travel to Japan through Postcrossing, I'd love to send them this.
December 10, 2025 at 9:10 AM
I also bought this stamp.
It's a stamp commemorating the Tokyo Olympics torch relay. It had a slight wrinkle, making it unsuitable for collecting, so it was a bit cheaper. It should be fine for use in Postcrossing.
December 9, 2025 at 11:38 AM
I bought these at the stamp shop inside the Stamp Museum.
These stamps are my favorites. They're a bit pricey, but I buy them whenever I find them.
People who own black cats really love it when I send them postcards with these stamps.
December 8, 2025 at 12:00 PM
Today I went to the Stamp Museum in Tokyo. They have a Christmas exhibition going on.
They had a special postmark available only today, so I had mine stamped. It's the same design as the stamp released the other day. They were also selling postcards designed by the stamp's artist.
