Disney’s Wish movie was definitely made for adults born in the 1980s. I watched it on repeat after the election and now I sporadically watch it when the news gets particularly cartoonish and disheartening.

Many of my patient sessions have become about sharing Nana’s wisdoms. When did we stop learning the things that help us deal with our humanness? That collective decision was not our finest moment.

1/2 Robert de Bruce of Scotland’s (real braveheart!) parents have a famous love story. It’s said that Robert Sr came back from the Crusades to tell his companion-in-arms’ widow that her husband died in war (& to give her an item he vowed to give).
2/2 Lady Carrick was so struck by Robert Sr’s beauty that she imprisoned him in her castle until he agreed to marry her. She Beauty & the Beast’ed him. They went on to have many kids, many of whom were royal & patriots.
So why do we remember Robert Sr as an ugly leper that was an evil man??

It really tickles me when people neg and think I’ll be taken in. I do therapy with middle schoolers—y’all don’t know I’m an Olympian at this.

When kiddos have a negative view of their ADHD dx I talk about it like being left handed in sports. Just because a person needs a left-handed glove or club/stick doesn’t mean anything, people just have to find what equipment or process works for them so they can play their best.

I wish people knew that the real meaning of “do unto others as you would have done to you” is a misunderstanding of the original meaning. It’s really ‘do unto others because it will be done to you as well whether or not you want it’.

In reality I know Song’s ending isn’t what would break my heart.
What’d break my heart is if Lucy & John don’t grow & learn their soul lessons—that Lucy & John deserve more than the old John. I hope they both realize that.
