some lockets will have like a little piece of plastic cut the right shape that covers the picture and help keeps it in too

lockets will have a slight ridge on the inside to hold it in place. you print the picture small and cut it into the right shape. back in the day people would get little water colour miniatures painted but idk if those were painted then put into lockets or if they were painted straight into them.

maybe a cabbage is a giant Brussel sprout... freak of nature
