She / Her / Hers (I sometimes answer to "Hey, you" as well)
This here should be about occasional cat pics, succinct opinions on movies, and the rest we'll just make up as we go along.
She looks angry.
I don't know why.

It's not perfect in it's form, elliptic at times when more explanation would have helped, demonstrative and clumsily hollywoodian at other times, but the 60s look and the soundtrack do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Seing these two back to back gives a clear idea of what Bong Joon-Ho wants to talk about, no matter when or where the story takes place.
Mickey17 is a lot less subtle, and the pacing is a bit slow, but Pattinson's voiceover didn't make me want to scream, that's very positive.

This was short, but intense and, frankly, exhausting. I wasn't sure I would finish it, especially after episodes 1 and 2 going so fast and then episode 3 being agonizingly slow. However, to quote the series itself, whatever shit you have to wade through, it's worth it, I think.

Trying to solve real life issues in quiet idyllic settings. It doesn't get more austenian than this, does it ?
This knows its references, it doesn't overdo anything, it's softly funny in a melancholic way. Very nice.

It's always the same shit, isn't it? Mind games and control, everywhere, always, at all levels.

You know the metaphor that compares testing a new idea and throwing spaghetti on a wall and see if it sticks, to check if it's cooked enough ?
It seems to me like an entire saucepan of spaghetti was thrown at the wall at once, and whether it was undercooked or overcooked, I'm not sure,

Took me a while to see this one. Can't say it blew my mind, but I don't think it was meant to. The plot is minimal and the characters are rather boring, because the plot isn't the point and the characters are, in more than one way, awfully common.
The poster looks ugly, but I find it says it all.

My pile of cats wish you the best for the next year.
Whatever bad happened to you this year, the worst of it is unlikely to happen again, lightning is said to not strike twice in the same place.
If nothing else, there are always small victories to celebrate.

FLOW is a bloody masterpiece.
When it comes to "show, don't tell", Gints Zilbalodis didn't joke around. Many of his fellow directors should take notes.

Ok, it's missing a head. But I'm baffled at the spotless state of the rest of it. Not a chip ! What's the earth made off in Irak, bubble wrap ?

The topic is interesting but I don't think this movie chose the right angle to tackle it. As in "Little Joe", I hear sensible lines from the mouths of "bad" brainwashed characters that should not be listened to, and nothing very brilliant from characters that should be sensible, and I don't like it.

It's reminiscent of Potiche and Palais Royal, both films Deneuve was in already, which also talked of women getting revenge and reasserting themselves after being used and abused, but which did it better.

I should definitely attend trials sometimes. Apparently, even when it's about murders, it can be messy and funny. And some clients make their lawyers look like saints and martyrs.

I dragged my feet until the last minute on account of the ugly poster (the red french version, whoever's responsible of that deserves 30 years in a gulag).
But it needed to be seen. It's incredibly gripping. Amazingly acted. Smartly written. Perfectly paced. The kid's a genius.
Deserved its award.
