We need to do more. I’ve had ME over half my life. I was 15 when diagnosed but 14 when I fell ill. I did not get referred to a specialist until I was 27. I have to educate drs and nurses on what ME is. We need to do more and we need to educate ourselves on hidden diseases, disabilities

ME jumps between being autoimmune and/or neurological. MRIs can be used to show the brain abnormalities and changes due to ME. ME impacts your whole body and changes your enzymes, your nerves, how your body perceives temperature and maintains body temperature. #RCN25

Even funding for research into ME is limited despite the fact 3 weeks ago it was declared over 150,000 people in the uk have ME than previously thought. Children as young as 5 are now being diagnosed. #rcn25

Are told it’s all in our head, told we are lazy or everyone gets tired. Many still use the term Yuppies Flu. Ab outdated and derogatory term once used to dismiss patients. It’s still a post code lottery to be referred to a specialist #RCN25

The student nurse education experience and life. On my way home I tended to a medical emergency on the Eurostar and was thanked with a lovely bottle of Champaign (which I will be saving for graduation) and I found out I’ve been awarded a first for my capstone (dissertation) (cont)
