As someone awaiting some potentially devastating test results, this really resonates.
If I want all of you to absorb one thing, it's "Do not borrow problems from tomorrow for today."
This is not "do not think about the future". This is "Stop having panic attacks at events that are on the frontier of probability and haven't approached us yet."

It's amazing watching a child develop their basic understanding of the world. So much that we consider obvious and mundane can be full of wonder and excitement.

Part of my job is studying systems, and often, how they can fail is more important than how they work.

On balance, I think I prefer NOT being inside the system while it's working through failure modes.
