Yeah, I think we agree. I was just responding to what I thought was a mischaracterization of what Dan was arguing. We shouldn’t be scared, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t also prep for the worst.

I'm just a guy, but I'd say that they should prepare for and organize against the possibility! Like "Go vote, and then be prepared to defend your rights after that if there is interference." I just wouldn't dismiss the threat. Maybe something like what Dan says here: bsky.app/profile/osul...
Minneapolis looks like a pretty good model: organized civil resistance, activism, occupation of city streets en masse to protect others. If the GOP refuses to seat House members on some pretext, or attempts to violently intimidate voters, this could save our elections. bsky.app/profile/just...
Like, what does "prepare accordingly" mean here bsky.app/profile/osul...

Helping people buck up and be brave involves some preparation and action beyond just personally saying "I'll vote anyway and we'll see what happens."

Right, but that's what Dan is saying -- we need to prepare and organize for it rather than just saying "overthrowing the midterms is too hard, and I won't be personally intimidated." That just seems like a setup for being caught flatfooted.

Just hoping that every individual is brave may not be enough of a plan. If even 5% aren't, that throws the election!

I don't read him as saying you or anyone else shouldn't be brave and vote -- of course you should. He's just saying that we should plan for when they TRY to intimidate people and TRY to avoid seating a new Congress. We should systemically prepare for that very possible (likely, I think) outcome.

the uncomfortable fact people don’t want to acknowledge about this Trump administration, and Elon in particular, is that they have been creative; literally doing things that are supposed to be impossible in our system.

no mainstream Dem has ever one idea that fits that category.
