My department is searching for a tenure-track assistant professor in early Christianity (our search last year was among those canceled because of budgetary uncertainty). Review of applications begins September 3, 2025. Full job description and application requirements in the link. #AcRel

Interesting, thanks! And presumably circumcision was already practiced by Samaritans, so 'Torah enforcement' must have looked slightly different in this case, right?
nathanaelvette.bsky.social
Many thanks Yonatan, this is fascinating. Do you think 'Judaisation' is a useful way to describe this policy? And I'm also interested in how you think circumcision fits into this - could this be one reason why we focus on the Judaisation of the Idumaeans and Ituraeans but not the Samaritans?

"And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal." (Joshua 3–4:20)

This week's exhibition is called 'Crossing the Jordan', and we first look at an extraordinary set of stones that were erected around 2900 BCE on the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.

my jsnt article comparing paul's claims about christ as an image of god with other ancient evidence about images of gods (literary, artistic, epigraphical, etc.) is now really truly published in the latest issue of the journal!

does this mean it's really real??
